Pacific Spirit School is an independent school that receives partial funding from the provincial government and partial funding from student tuition. We strive to keep the tuition very low in order to keep our school as inclusive as possible, and always welcome donations to help us provide our programs to the children.
The school operates under our non-profit New Learning Society which is a registered charity and can provide income tax receipts for all donations. This means that you receive tax credits for your donation, and in BC that means 21.2% credit for the first $200 and 43.7% for everything above that. Assuming that between you and your spouse/partner you already donate $200 per year to other causes, then for every dollar you donate to Pacific Spirit School you would receive 43.7% back in the form of reduced income taxes. For example, if you donate $1000, then you would pay $437 less in taxes. The school receives almost twice as much as it would cost the person who makes the donation!
